LETTERS & MESSAGES AUGUST 2009

This article was originally published in the August 2009 edition of Soul Search, the journal of The Sole Society

From Fred Sole:

BELATED CONGRATULATIONS TO A FOUNDER MEMBER AND HIS GOOD LADY ON 60 GLORIOUS YEARS!

(Unfortunately details of the event reached us as the April Soul Search went to press)

Donald Frederick SOLE married Lorraine Marie HELLIGE on 26 February 1949 in the Redemptorist Church of Kansas City, and on that date this year celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Don is retired from the Ford Motor Company and Lou spent 10 years with TWA. Don and Lou are the proud parents of four children, and they have four Grandchildren and one Great-Grandchild. The happy couple enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner with their family and 75 other guests, complete with spectacular flower displays courtesy of son Craig.

As member no. 8 (our first member outside the original committee) Don has, for many years, been an avid researcher of his mother’s family, with the eventual success described in Soul Search of December 2001. The SOLE and HELLIGE genes have weathered very well !!!

The pictures appeared in The Independent, a weekly journal of Kansas City

From Martin SAUL:

SECOND SAUL FAMILY REUNION - A GREAT SUCCESS

My wife and I held the second Saul reunion on the 9th of May 2009. It was a great success, reuniting old family members who had lost touch over the years and introducing new found family members they had not known.

I have produced a 50 page book of all my research into the family, and this was appreciated very much by all.

We had 30 family members at the party and at least a dozen others who were unable to attend due to other commitments or because they live overseas.

My research is still moving forward, sometimes at a very fast and exciting pace, and I still have a number of family lines to research, so who knows where they will lead.

If you would like to know about any of my research into the Leamington Sauls, please contact me though the Sole Society.
